What money are you talking about? And what political benefit would there be to giving money to refugees? They can't vote. OP's article makes no mention of money. Just that Afghan refugees are going to be temporarily housed at Fort Dix (a US Army base).

My SIL did four tours there. He said the same but he also said it's why they Army cut and ran ,not much fight in them.
Their country has been occupied by foreign (mostly hostile) powers since 1978. Maybe they're just tired. Regardless, they don't deserve to be executed by the Taliban just for helping allied forces.
My son said he is hearing COs are on the phone 24/7 trying to get their translators out .
