Looking for a town with good schools, not too far from NYC. How do Westfield and Millburn compare?

If you are commuting into the city, I would go for Millburn/Short Hills or Maplewood/South Orange.

Westfield has a great downtown, very walkable. Millburn has better schools. If I had my choice I would probably chose Millburn for the schools. For quality of life I'd chose Westfield. That being said, I have a friend whose daughter graduated from Millburn HS. She had a 3.6 GPA and was in the bottom half of her graduating class. She ended up being waitlisted at all of her college choices. Had she gone to a marginally less competitive HS maybe things would have been different. But who knows............

if just picking between the 2 the answer would be Millburn. Otherwise Summit, Chatham, & New Providence all offer good schools, good access to NYC by train, and much lower taxes than Millburn.
