In regards to wealthy Bergen County towns, other than the obvious, what may have hurt Trump was that he was responsible for the cap on deducting local real estate taxes - this took thousands of dollars out of nearly all Bergen County home owners pockets. Was probably a pretty good reason, alone, to want Trump out.

Ironically, this type of wealth transfer from the rich to the poor (or less rich) was ignored by the national media because it didn't fit their narrative on Trump.

Thank you all...
I am indifferent between Saddle River, Upper Saddle River, Ridgewood and most other towns in that area.
We will start driving up and when the time comes just pick the best house.
The school districts all seem of similar level.

I'm also looking in the same area and have come to the same conclusion - it's all nice in northern BC. Coincidentally, I grew up in WW-P and saw it transform into what you described, after I went to college. It was very competitive in school when I was growing up but has gone way over the top since then. I still think WW is an amazing place to live but I would not want to subject a kid to the school district as it is now.

It wasn't rich to poor, it was Blue states transferring money to cut taxes for 'the wealthy' and corporations. Living in a high cost area does not classify you as rich, although there are plenty of rich people in Bergen County.

I am looking at houses sold last summer. I am comparing it to north WestChester too ...That seems way more remote with bigger houses. Not sure if I can handle being in the midst of that much nature, but its all about where we can afford it and the right community.
Thank you all for all your input. We are going to spend some time driving around in these towns and the north westchester ones and get a feel for them.

Hi AnsterdamGal, I just came across your post looking for information on the same areas that you were interested in (Mahwah/FR). If you don't mind me asking, did Mahwah meet your needs? Are there any other similar towns you would consider now after your research?
