I just decided to take a day trip to Asbury Park tomorrow. The weather looks nice and the beach fee is only $6 according to their website. I haven't been there before and always wanted to check it out. (I normally go to AC), therefore just trying to get an idea of a good spot to eat and have a quick drink after spending some time on the beach. Ideally, looking for a beach bar or tiki bar with reasonably priced wings and beer. Yeah, I know the phrase "reasonably priced" is a stretch these days, but all recommendations will be taken into consideration. Perhaps someone can recommend a good beach bar and a separate divey spot for wings and beer? I will be arriving via train and will be on foot, so I am looking for anything on the boardwalk or Cookman Drive area.

I can’t remember the name of the place, but there is real nice spot on the boardwalk there. It’s the one that does drinks where they fill up a coconut or pineapple with liquor (best bet for that is rum of course).

I will look out for it. I tried looking up some things on google, but the place you describe looks like is called Beach Bar and google says it is temporarily closed. However not sure how accurate google is.

The Beach Bar would be the place, didn't know it was closed. If you don't mind driving north another 15-20 minutes, lots of what you're looking for in Higlands. Off The Hook, Chubby Pickle, Moby's to name a few.

If this place is open, this is what you're looking for.

Thanks for your suggestions. I did notice on their IG page that they are indeed open. I ended up going to a place called Johnny Macs right by the train station when I first arrived. Their draft domestic beers were only $3 in the early afternoon and you get a free bar pie with your first drink. The bar pie was filling, but also very greasy and runny. Not sure I would go for their free bar pie offer again, but cannot beat their draft beer prices (at least at that time). The place did hit the spot. After spending much too long on the beach and swimming in the ocean (was bit twice by a crab), taking pictures for some families, and getting a nasty sunburn on my neck, I decided to call it a day by 4pm. My initial intention was to also check out the Beach Bar before heading home, but I was feeling too sandy and gross. Their showers also lack water pressure and therefore I had a hard time getting all that sand off me. Overall, it was a fun time. I hope to return later in the summer and see more of the boardwalk next time.
Take a quick ride up to Long Branch and hit the Windmill.
