They need to expand hunting in the rural areas from which the deer come. You don't need to hunt in a dense Bergen neighborhood. The increase in deer is do to them migrating from the areas where they were formerly hunted at greater rates. It is also due to development in these areas pushing them out, and unknowingly towards, more dense areas. This development has also hurt the populations of animals that are natural predators of deers.

This is a common theme but incorrect. Deer expand into dense human areas because they thrive around us. Landscaping creates MORE food for deer, not less. We don't push them out, we attract them. Not to mention all the idiots who outright feed them.
NJ has a development problem. Deer have nowhere to go and are now in your sprawling McMansion backyard. Oh the horrors! I mean, when folks lived in the best place ever, Brooklyn NY, we didn't see any deer. But now, OMG what if the deer tried to attack Greyson while they were riding their 3 wheeler (under supervision, naturally)? I am literally shaking at the thought.
