You can probably find something in Metuchen in your price range. Hopefully you are aware, Metuchen has a train station on the Northeast Corridor line and it is about a 15 minute ride to New Brunswick. Plus, Metuchen has easy access to all the major highways.

Property taxes are pretty high, but people manage.

This is going to be very hard to do in Central Jersey where transit sucks and driving is awful, but congestion is high.

Probably the most inconvenient part of NJ.

Hillsborough better to drive to NB but Warren better for almost everything else.
