I know this has been posted about before, but didn't see much information. We're looking at a home that's about 1 mile away from the Glen Ridge Radium cleanup and then maybe less than 1 mile from the one by Nishuane Park.
I've read through all the EPA documents and it appears there was significant removal of soil 20 yrs ago and the sites are now deemed safe. I don't believe this home was part of the excavated areas, but curious if any long-time, current residents of the area have heard any health concerns. Just feeling a little antsy about the home being close...but not sure if I'm overthinking it.
Just a bit scary that places like this exist. Just by reading up on it, doesnt appear to have effected the water and only the soil, along with sidewalks and local foundation materials to build some homes.
Have you done a radon test? Apparently thats the way to detect if you might be directly effected. Would be interesting to see potential health studies done for the area.
Could be worse. There's a reason there's just an athletic field here, no buildings.
