This economy really needs to turn around. Who can afford to live nowadays...especially in NJ. I was watching the news this morning and now you have to pay $15 just to check your bags at the airport!!! Normally, I tip the skycap just so I'll see my bags again. Now I have to pay on top of the tip! I'm high strung enough as it is, I need a vacation. It's going to bleed me dry!

I watched the news last night as well and the Northeast seems to be struggling at a higher percentage rate than the rest of the country...79% of the population in the Northeast is struggling at the moment vs. 65% average across the rest of the nation. I believe it's because we have a higher cost of living. It's going to be a bumpy year I believe.

The only way to hurt the airlines is DONT FLY! They have most of the leverage.

So far, I am locked in at 3 plus a gallon for my propane which isn't as bad as you oil folks. I'm researching and seriously contemplating installing a Central Boiler this year... one that runs on pellets or wood and it connects to your existing furnace so you don't need petro products!

So far this is just an American Airlines policy. So fly all you want, on another carrier, and check yoru bags for free.

I'm sure AA is paying high fuel prices as well, so of course it has to find a way to pass the cost over to us.

I'm pretty sure it's also only for curbside check-in as well. I saw signs down in Atlanta's airport to that effect- if you go the inside counters it was no-charge.
