Hello all. My husband and I are relocating from Missouri to New Jersey because I've taken a job in Newark. I'm a NYC native; he's never lived anywhere but Kansas City. To reduce the culture shock for him but not go completely suburban, we're looking at a bunch of different NJ towns, but Montclair seems to have almost everything we're looking for.
We'll be renting, and I saw a listing for a place near Canterbury Park in Montclair, not far from the Glen Ridge border. Can anyone tell me if this is a safe area, and if it's reasonably close to shopping, stores we can walk to, etc.?
The Southside of Bloomfield Ave in Montclair is actually the side with the nicest and most expensive homes and estates in town. Ever been to Llewellyn Rd or Gates Ave or Eagle Rock or on and on? Linden Ave is a lovely area, as is Canterbury Park. There are some huge, well kept tudor and Victorian homes on the Montclair side of the Glen Ridge border there. Then drive up to South Mountain and Undercliff Rd to be totally stunned by the old world feel and the glorious nature of the homes and estates found there.
