For every fake incident there’s 100 real ones, they just don’t always make the news. If you’re white you just don’t have to think about these things.
Where did you get those numbers? FBI? Justice Dept? Just curious.
Are you including attacks on Asians, Jews and other minorities in your "100 real ones" calculation?
The hoaxes are super high profile and beat to death in right-wing media, so of course you think there are more of them. But overall probably a small percentages of these incidents. You can't seriously believe racism against minorities is over and racist acts don't occur anymore, right?
They're also beaten to death in the left wing media until it's proven to be a hoax then the story disappears like a fart in a tornado.

USA today is hardly a right wing publication unless one thinks the Daily Kos is middle of the road.

It seems in reading the article that those few hundred that they found were out of 7000 reported hate crimes though.
Some women lie and say they were raped when they weren’t, so should we start treating all rape victims as if they are lying? I certainly hope not.
True but for some reason the majority of hoaxes seem to involve Blacks.
I assume the 7,000 reported crimes covers a variety of races/cultures gays, straights and both men and women.
It would be nice to know how they all panned out.

That said, I think hoaxers should suffer serious consequences (they never seem to) given the serious damage they do to real victims just for their own self aggrandizement.
Has anyone indicated awareness that the perps were not students at the college. They were off-campus visitors to the dorm who were allowed entry by a resident.
Glad to see that it (apparently) wasn't another hoax. Sorry for the young victim though.

LOL, remember the days before cell phones when hillbillies were routinely "abducted" by aliens, who usually stuck some kind of probe up their butts?
Those hoaxes went away when people began carrying camera phones.

Was your data gathered from 38 years as a Black man in NJ or various regions of the US?

I was just curious about your methodology of determining and presenting something as exact as mathematical data, especially when it comes to quantifying and repairing serious social issues.

Guess the most they can charged with is vandalism? Plus disorderly conduct? If so give them the maximum punishment for each.
I'm not sure if NJ has so-called "hate speech laws" and if they do how often and in what circumstances they're applied.
Either way, society has no need for people like them in my opinion.
