It’s almost 60 degrees here in Bergen County today, with nonstop gray and rain, and it looks like it’s going to be the same for most of next week. We winter lovers just got lucky with that cold snap we had a couple of weeks ago. But it seems like our entire winter is going to be in the 50s every day and rainy and wet, with maybe one or two days in the 40s or 30s each week. It’s happened quite a bit lately.

I also think I have reverse SAD, where I feel most happy and alive on the true winter days, and this weather has not been good for my mental health. And so many people who really want winter, in the Northeast where it’s supposed to be cold, are deemed as nut jobs and “Shut up, don’t ruin things for the rest of us!” I don’t ever remember this regularly happening in December. It’s scary.
I'm writing this as its 29 degree's on a Monday morning at 9:15am. Yes, it was warm Saturday because we had warm front come through with the rain that occurred all day Saturday. I'm assuming you have heard of the jet stream, and how high/low pressure works.

Additionally, we are in the season of fall, not winter.

I’ve heard of it. I just hope to see these 50+ degree and rainy days go away in the next couple of weeks. Today is not one of those days, but the next 3 days in a row are after today, and then below 40 and a wintry mix this weekend.

Sunday in Morris County we just had our first real snow storm. About 3-4 inches, including street cover which made driving hazardous.

All the streets are now covered in salt. It looks like Friday there will be another storm coming through dropping a few inches to the western side of the state effecting 6 counties.

Yesterday marks the first day of winter and we will have one of the coldest Christmas's on record.

There's no snow. There was snow for about five minutes here before the freezing rain and sleet killed it. There wasn't enough to make a sleet man.

OP better enjoy it while he/she can; by next week temps are back up to middle to high 50's maybe even reaching 60 by NYE or NYD. Oh and rain or showers will return, no more snow for now.

I don't know where the OP lives. Hopefully it's in the snow zone.

I feel like you’re trying to tease me here lol. Yup, I called it. The cold snaps that we now have don’t last long before going back to record highs. I do hope to have kids one day, and it’s sad to think that they’ll probably never be able to play pond hockey or ice skate unless I leave all my relationships behind and move up to New England or the Midwest. It didn’t used to be like this.
