Interesting that a small business has to wait 10 days to get an email response back from from the Division of Taxation. A call to the office says they have a heavy calling volume and to try at another time. I guess it is typical of NJ, have bloated government everywhere but in the divisions that actually "earn their keep".

I spent 2-1/2 years working in the Taxation call center, and 6 months working in the e-mail unit. I just left this past February when we moved out of state. The Division of Taxation's customer services areas are sooooooo understaffed, you can't imagine. Also, the Taxation area handles all the rebates, so businesses and people who are actually trying to PAY money to NJ can't get through and the frustration level is unbelievable. The e-mail unit is usually 40-55 days behind in responses, and the call center's wait is usually 45 minutes, if you can get through at all. Try calling early (8:00) on Friday mornings. That was the lightest time when I worked there. Also, the Taxation website has a lot of information on it that may help you. State of New Jersey Division of Taxation.

Good luck

Default Thanks

Thank you for the information, I will try first thing in the morning.

Also thank you for confirming my initial thought that the one department that brings in revenue would be short staffed, only in NJ.
