The restaurant closed because of he casinos. Where they were is now parking for casino employees. There was another Zaberers in Wildwood. I loved everything that was Zaberized
I use to work at the one on the black horse pike. the other was owned by his brother and was in wildwood. I am now 66 years old have yet to see anything that comes close to that place. many great times, to bad the gambling came. He use to say he came to atlantic city with only $42.00 in his pocket when he would talk about how he built the place. he was a good man had great respect and great bonus program for his employees. use to give away new cars several times a year to employees .
some of the cement can still be seen and some of the parking area other then that its gone. but nothing can erase the memories .
Growing up in Washington Twp (Gloucester Co.), in the 60s/70s, we used to go to the one outside AC about twice a year as a big family treat. Even as a little kid of 5 or 6, I loved seafood and would always have shrimp cocktail, some steamers and a big platter of fried butterflied shrimp (and fries) there. Stopped going there in the early 70s, when I was about 11, when my parents split up. Hadn't thought about this place in a long time...
Oh yes. I had the time of my life at Zaberer's. I could write a book of the summer I was a waiter there. I had the summer of '42 there like the movie. I worked there the summer of '73 as my last summer b4 graduating from college. My book would have 11 chapters in it. What was special about working there as a waiter was there were 11 dining rooms and approx. 35 waiters and waitresses. I liked it because the ratio of waitresses to guys was 3 to one. My claim to fame there was meeting and staying with the singer Jim Croce' just as Bad Bad Leroy Brown was coming into its own . I saw him at Wildwood Convention Ctr....Less than 3 months later he was killed in car crash. I would do just about anyting to remember the names of the 3 guys from Ireland I stayed with or a guy named Sam who was from Pa. and I think went to St. Joes.
Great memories, great times. Boy, you made me nostalgic & homesick.
I remember eating so much I left almost sick to my stomach. And it seemed to be "the thing" to leave with a treat from the gift shop in a Zabarer's bag.
Now, who remembers Wally's on the Hill in Scotsplains off Rt.22?
Was Wally's on the corner where the Lowes is? I remember there was a restaurant there. That was before Sony-Lowes bought the entire property.... hmm no that was in Mountainside, whats at the "Wally's" location now?
OK OK I got one, I don't remember it too too much but it was popular probably not as much as the other place mentioned here... anyone remeber The House of Ravioli? or Ravioli House, not sure what it was called it was YEARS ago. I miss the 80's lol and going to Wildwood with my parents as a child it was the best!! WOW! So long ago.

Folks, I am dying to reconnect with others who may have been WAITERS or WAITRESSES at Zaberer's. MAny of us made tremendous friends and memeories but then they were gone when we left for the summer. As teenagers with no internet and off to college, you lost touch real quick. Many of us woul love to find those we lost. did Zaberer's keep any reords of those who may have worked there? Does anybody know? How about Joe Zaberer, would he know?
Anyone remember Shamrock's bar and grill in downtown part of Wildwood? It was off of Young Ave. on the main road.
