We just saw a house there and really liked it. Just wondering about the schools. Also, is the flooding really bad? thanks!

The schools are pretty good - I grew up there - but they have had a lot of upheaval with the BOE the past few years (forced out one Superintendent, and some grumblings with the new one, as well as among the board members).

The Recreation Dept in town is outstanding

As for flooding - stay away from the Village area (near Rt 23, always floods first) as well as the lower part of Newark-Pompton Tpke near the Wayne border.

Also - much of Pequannock is still septic; there is a slow conversion, but moving into a home with septic now means you will get hit up for a pretty hefty fee to convert.

Where was the house you saw?

I used to love in the flood zones for many years.....there were years we didnt get anything then there were the last few years we did, depending where you are located in the flood zone is how I will be able to tell you how bad it can get. I sold my house last year and the people that bought will have to pay for the sewers, the line was put in before I sold but they face a fee of around $12K. The schools especially the high school are ok, just not as good as they try and make you believe. The grammar schools actually I liked. Oh also, you ought to check the cost of flood insurance expect to pay over $1000 add that to your taxes and your soon to be sewer bill, all expenses you should consider Good Luck!
