I work in NYC while my boyfriend works in PA. We plan to live in Dunellen, new jersy, which is in between. We don't know though how the traffic is during rush hours from NJ to PA on Rt 78 because most information we found is about traffic towards NYC. Does anyone travel the same way? Thanks!

While I don't travel that way, I know that most traffic in the morning will be traveling eastbound. The one problem you will have is on 287. There is alot of traffic heading north to Morristown.

Take Rt. 22 West to Clinton and then pick up I 78 W, once you get past Somerville/Bridgewater you will have less traffic.

Commuting westbound on 78 in the am and eastbound in the pm is a breeze from 287 to the PA border.

Traffic heading on 287 can be really bad until you get to 78 or 22.

Therefore, I would still recommend doing a trial run.
