Wont really help I think...I did the same mistake with a school in CT, in the middle of my course had a job change to NJ. Couldn't finish the course...could not get a single penny back...not even a portion of it! lesson learnt: NEVER EVER PAY IN ADVANCE

Sorry to hear about your terrible experience at that driving school. I agree that you should discuss your situation with the manager. My instructor from a local Penrith driving school was always there 30 minutes prior to every lesson. There are a lot of competitive and professional driving instructor out there. I suggest you change your instructor. It's just a waste of time and money if you let your driving coach continue teaching you inspite of the horrible service they gave you.

As with any business or service ... you get what you pay for ! This is the first rule of LIFE !! As a DS owner I get calls all the time where the fee is the highest priority. Very few, if any questions are posed to me about my teaching experience.
If you want a good meal, don't go to McD
If you want a fast and cheap meal ... do go to McD
As customers we all have an obligation to understand this basic rule.
If it's cheap .... it won't be good
If it's good .... it won't always be cheap or fast

Sounds like you and your wife haven't yet learned this lesson in life !
Take your experience as a learning experience. Buy quality !
