some towns have extremely high taxes- mount olive for example, although nj in general has high taxes all over. where to avoid depends on what you're looking for. Morris county ranges from rural-like areas to city-like places like Morristown all under the category of a suburban county. Many towns like Randolph or Morris twp have nice park systems. Downtown mainstreet type areas can be found in Madison, Chatham and Chester but are pricier. Some town are getting congested-Parsippany, Rockaway, but are convenient to highways.

The only place I would avoid in Morris county is Dover.

550k will go a long way in Riverdale.
Sections to avoid include 'parts' of Morristown, Boonton, Lincoln Pk. and Parsippany.

Boonton???? Boonton Twp. would be on my top ten list? The others you mention are decent areas as well? I agree with UKOK...Dover isn't very nice. OP - you may want to check out areas in Warren County and lower Sussex County - exit 19 of off Rt. 80 as well. More bang for your buck.

Default Hanover Township

Hanover Township in Morris County consists of Whippany and Cedar Knolls. They have the lowest tax rate in Morris County, good schools, low crime and family neighborhoods.

Very good school system; taxes are high.
