Had to make a quick trip out to Colorado!! My brother was having an endoscope & the doc perforated his esophagael...had to have emergency surgery...turns out he has cancer of the esophagael and because of the damage from the perforation the entire thing had to be removed, but they reconstructed one from his stomach.

He said instead of a hotel stay up at house in Bailey....oh lordy me..talk about the boonies...elk, deer, black foxes, black bear and those pesky sneaky mountain lions....so freakin quiet you can hear your heart beat..

Bro is on the mend with a long road to total recovery and I'm happily back in civilization in NJ

This sounds like quite a sophisticated operation. I really hope he is doing well. What is his timetable for recovery?

Tahiti,
It was thought that when my dad had surgery they were able to 'get' his cancer, in his colon. A year later it came back and then it passed to his lung. You can probably figure the rest of the story. I have a cousin who lives in Denver who is an oncologist, and she will parrot a famous quote by George Carlin: "It's all guesswork in a white hat".

Well, to lighten it up, Kate, it seems like we will have missed each other by a smidge. I am boarding a plane a little later on today to Denver, and will be in Boulder for the rest of the week. I am actually going to be in Sedalia (kind of near Bailey) this evening for a few hours, visiting another cousin, then off to training tomorrow morning in Broomfield.

Glad to hear your brother is on the road to recovery. Don't be too scared of all those wild animals....they don't eat much.
