I vote for Pecoraro's downtown Jersey City on Newark Ave. They have the best Brickoven Bread, sometimes they even make pizza, the Sausage- and Pepperoni bread is just to die for.
cheers

Jersey City is in Hudson County last time I checked.

Anyway, a good "sweets" bakery is D'Annas in Garfield. Best black and white cookies on the planet.

D'Annas is good... My family has been going there for YEARS....

My favorite is B&W bakery in Hackensack, hands down the best in the area.

Yeah, JC is Hudson!
In Hudson, I always liked Carlos's Bakery in Hoboken and Monteleons in JC on Newark Ave.

In Bergen... man, they ain't what they used to be! Mazurs in Lyndhurst USED to be great, but not anymore. Now it's just overpriced mediocrity. I do like Lyndhurst Pastry Shop for Italian Pastry though.

Mills in Wood-Ridge is great for the chocolate fudge icing...it's REAL good.

Wyckoff Bakery is good, but way overpriced....

I've had B&W Coffee Cake & it is to die for, but I've never had anything else from there.

It was game-over for Mazurs when I got a red velvet cake and it was still goo in the middle and the Neopolitian loaves were bricks.

Love the black and whites. I think the German bakery is still on Park Ave in Rutherford. Allwood in Clifton isn't bad. Haven't really found a great one yet.

They are now owned by the family that used to run Spiekerman's and it's all mass produced...it's not a shadow of what it used to be.
