Very interesting approach, I wonder if this will actually work in the long term. God knows we NJ'ian's pay one of the highest premiums.

Then, when they renew their policy, their rate could decrease by up to 60 percent or increase by up to 9 percent based on their driving habits.

Thats the key!!!
How many miles you drive and HOW you drive....do you ever speed even just a tad?

Well, all the troopers on 80 tell me that I'm one HELLUVA a driver every time they stop me! (Racial profiling, the bastids) ok, that last part was a j/k, ok people?

Actually I've never had a ticket for speeding, not that I don't, I just haven't been caught. and usually my commute is between 120 to 130 miles daily. (That's both ways)

I work from home..I'm sure I'd get the 60% : ) I have State Farm now on all the vehicles. They are a bit pricey. Average of $800.00/yr per vehicle.

my husband mentioned this yesterday. i'd be interested to know what their "flat, never drive" rate is first - they need some sort of chart that shows the incremental increases. also, looks like you're going to pay a "regular" rate for the first year, based on this:

"Under Progressive's program, customers can earn a first-term discount of up to 10 percent just for signing up. Then, when they renew their policy, their rate could decrease by up to 60 percent or increase by up to 9 percent based on their driving habits."

10% discount on what? It's a new program.

also, i wonder what happens if you have an accident.

ours is very low, if we were interested it would be for our one car that just sits in the garage.

It would rock for me, I don't drive much at all. If its during the week, I'm driving a couple miles at most, and thats a major rarity - once a month. During the weekend, I drive 40 miles. Once. Roundtrip.

I should pay like $2/yr
