So what are they currently doing? For NJIT I was thinking of Civil engineering as well. I'm not to sure on NJIT because i heard it's hard, im not very use to studying 24/7. I'm surprised I was accepted, maybe because im a transfer student with a 3.5 and that I'm asian.

Civil E should be an emerging field with the population explosion, infastructure overload. The transportation sector (trains, light rail, etc) should be growing /expanding due to high gas prices. You might be in good hands and be "able to write your ticket" esp. if trends continue heh?

If you're set on CompSci, NJIT is the only decent choice out of the schools you listed. That said, as others have noted, be prepared for a tough job market.

To OP:
The job market is, without a doubt, tougher than it was in say, 1997. That said - there is actually a boomerang effect going on. So many kids got scared away from compsci when the tech bubble burst. Enrollment in CS programs went way down, and now there is a shortage of home-grown talent here in the states. Don't be so discouraged. It's tough out there, but if you've got the chops and you network right, you'll be just fine.

I still have a few friends who stayed in CS field... but one knows his job will be offshored within 2 years. He is looking at other options now as well. One friend went back to school got his MBA in Finance and is following that route now. Another is an accountant and actually shocked that he loves that more than he did being in programming, and that was his big love... the one who was just laid off is well, unemployed! lol

I think Civil Engineering is a pretty good major these days too... thoughts from others?

I think its a great field considering the expansion and revamp of our infrastructure to support 'explosion of the populace' predicted for 2050. Environmental, Waste Water, Roadway, Rail, other transportation projects will offer JOBS-JOBS-JOBS. So much will be needed to be done as the BOS-NYC-WAS corridor will become one huge asphalt jungle. Civil E may be the place to be.
