You hit the nail on the head the first time.... Twin Rivers.
Twin Rivers, Gardenview, and the Orchard is what drags down the rest of EW. Because there's such a huge population concentration in Twin Rivers, there of course would be elevated criminal issues.

I know exactly what you mean. I knew people that had a house on the other side of town... much different. Even though... I did really like my neighbors... even the drunks were funny.
There's the Rt. 130 Connection (East Windsor Township New Jersey, click the Transportation that has the red arrow next to it) and it'll take you to the Hamilton train station. No Twin Rivers stops but some in downtown Hightstown and, of course, along 130.
There's the Princeton Junction Shuttle (Princeton Junction Shuttle) and it'll take you to the Princeton junction train station. Also no Twin Rivers stops, but some in downtown Hightstown and whole bunch all over East Windsor.
I just looked. Gardenview Terrace and the Orchard have places in the 100K area.
Yeah, I'm thinking less "amazing" and more "Yikes."
Then again, the OP is coming from Brooklyn, so YMMV.
I lived in Garden View Terrace a long, long, long time ago when the units were apartments. It was one of the few places in the area to rent.
Gardenview Terrace and The Orchard were originally apartments and converted into condominiums. I don't know about The Orchard, but Gardenview Terrace is not sound proof and you could hear someone cough through the walls. These places were not built for condo living.
I live in Hightstown now and a neighbor of mine got on a bus on Rt. 33 (a block from his house) to NYC. It never took him 2 hours. By car it's around an hour. I don't know what bus he took and I can't ask him; he moved to Mass.
