me and a girlfriend are flying into atlantic city on firday orginally her aunt was going to pick us up but she was unable to get the day off we dont want to rent a car because its high to rent from the airport and we don't have the extra money for that so we were trying to figure out if it's possible to catch the bus but looking at nj transit it looks like from atlantic city the bus goes to port authority before it comes to new brunswick so its like a 5 hour ride but it looks like the bus goes to newark before it gets to port authority - someone offered to pick us up if we were able to change our tickets to the newark airport but we're flying spirit airlines n they don't go to newark
so does anyone have any experience with catching the bus from the atlantic city airport? would it make more sense to get off at the newark penn station and have someone pick us up there then to ride all the way to port authority and back - i'm kinda lost - help

thats a messed up situation. There are buses that commute from AC at different casinos I would check that out. otherwise u could take 3 trains to new brunswick, lol... take patco from ac to camden [gota layover in lindenwold], then riverline from camden to trenton, then njtransit train from trenton to newbrunswick, u dont wuna do that

i think we're going to catch the bus to the port authority and then to the newark train station - it's like a 3 hour ride but it's only $35 and i here it's been raining alot so this is better anyway
You can take the train from Atlantic City to 30th St. in Philadelphia ($8)
from 30th St you take the R7 train to Trenton ($7)
from Trenton you take the Northeast Corridor Line (NECL) to New Brunswick ($6)
After 3 hours you'll actually be in New Brunswick. Not in Newark.
Two other things:
Absecon Station is actually closer to the AC airport than Atlantic City Station.
Check the NJTransit website but I know there are buses that go straight to Newark. Also, some of the buses stop at the rest sops along the Garden State Parkway. The Cheesequake rest stop is closer to New Brunswick than Newark is.
Another consideration is that there is no bus service to the airport. The only "public" transportation from there is a taxi. This is where solibs' suggestion for the Absecon rail station comes in handy - a cab will beat you for a ride all the way from the airport into the city. As it is, the cab into Absecon will probably cost you upwards of $25. Better to hit the nearest train station and ride the rail the whole way, getting a nice view of Philadelphia's backside in the process.
The Absecon rail station is not manned - you'll use the ticket vending machine which takes credit/debit as well as cash. Fare to Philadelphia is $7.50 per person.

how do you by the other tickets i did the trip planer and it says i can go from atlantic city to new brunswick for $14.25 - do you have to buy a card or pay for each train? also we will have some luggage - do they allow for that on the trains?

You pay for each train.
Consider riding the train much like riding a plane except that you have the overhead luggage racks all to yourself . . . and yes, you can fit a suitcase up there.
AC to New Brunswick for $14.25 is just the NJ Transit portion of the trip.
If time is no issue you can take the Atlantic City Rail Line to Lindenwold ($4 - 1 hour), transfer to PATCO and take that to Broadway in Camden ($1.30 - 20 minutes) then take the RiverLINE to Trenton ($1.25 - 1 hour) then take the NECL to New Brunswick ($6 - 30 minutes).
The only benefit to taking the 4 trains instead of one is that you'll save $4 and, if you're traveling on the weekend of off-peak the R7 only runs once an hour whereas the RiverLine runs every 30 minutes.
Why don't you tell us weekday or weekend and what time you arrive in AC and we can show you an itinerary of what your trip might look like.
OK - I just checked and the 319 bus from the Atlantic City Bus Terminal makes two runs a day direct to Newark. On Saturday/Sunday it makes 4 runs a day. It's a two and a half hour ride (which, really, is about how long it would take to drive anyway)
Unless your plane comes in late on a weekday it sounds like you should just hang out on the boardwalk or shop until it's time for your bus to leave.

We will be arriving on Friday at 11:155 am to the airport.
