What would be a faster commute? Hackensack to Port Authority or Fort Lee to Port Authority? I always thought Fort Lee was closer and a better commute (and hopstop confirmed that), but looking at the NJ Transit Bus schedules, it seems like hackensack would be quicker?? Can anyone confirm this?

Fort Lee is way up by GWB so Hackensack is closer to mid town by going through the Lincoln Tunnel.

I wonder why Fort Lee doesn't have buses that go over the GWB? All of the NJ Transit Buses seem to go through the lincoln tunnel.

Fort Lee does have buses that go over the GW bridge. I believe one of them is the NJ Transit #186 bus. It takes about 10-30 minutes depending on where you live in Fort Lee. Once you get to the GW Terminal, you take the A train to whereever you need to go in the city.

The condo I'm looking at is on 1600 center ave, fort lee. Seems kind of far from the NJTransit #186. Any ideas on how I can get on that bus?

The 162 bus on Prospect Avenue/Polify Road in Hackensack can take 32 minutes to get to the Port Authority on 42nd Street but not during the height of rush hour (7:20 - 8:30 am).

If you walk over to Bridge Plaza and go down the stairs you can catch tons of buses for abt $1-2 dollars to take you over the bridge to Port Authority on 181st Street. Of course, you have to take the A train downtown which I personally would not do again if I could avoid it although 2 of my friends do it everyday. One is an investment banker who goes all the way down to the Staten Island ferry and the other (woman) goes to 57th Street.

I have looked into the bus routes and there may be a number of reasons why they don't have extensive routing to the PA on 181st Street: 1. people driving in 2. people taking the ferry (some buildings in Fort Lee have little van buses that take you down to the ferry) 3. people walking or riding a bike across the bridge 4. the small bus cottage industry at Bridge Plaza (I noticed a number of those little white buses going up and down Center and Anderson so they may have expanded their routing thru Cliffside Park) and 5. alot of commuters work below 57th Street.

What street are you commuting to in Manhattan? I have taken the bus from 42nd Street Port Authority to Whiteman and Center (159 bus) takes about 40-45 minutes .
