got I just thought about those fans, I used to love them when I was a kid! That was the best part, Mom would order some exotic drink and I would get the fan, or the plastic sparklers. I wonder if we opened a really good polynesian type place with a good gimmick, take some people and throw them in hula skirts and do a fire eating act with a pupu platter would it go over now? I just want a fan!
Theres is a place, I think it is called Lee's Hawaian Islander, in Lyndhurst. Never been but I would like to check it out. Reminds me of a place that used to be on Kennedy Blvd in North Bergen, I think it was called the Mai Tai or something like that... it was a hoot. When I was little (real little) we used to go there and we'd have these "virgin" coconut drinks IN the shell complete with the little umbrellas...everything was so tacky - but it was so much fun.
