I am planning to live at somerset, NJ and commute to nyc by getting off to new brunswick, nj station. I am looking at the parking map here . Parking Locator > | New Brunswick, NJ | New Brunswick Parking Authority . There seems to be an array of options here. Can somebody suggest the parking lots in terms of safety - something to avoid etc.
The parking areas are generally safe in NB but you just have to deal with the traffic, especially if you are coming down from Easton Ave. There are daily parking and you can apply for a monthly pass. I used to park in the Jersey Ave lot & they have a one year waiting list. The daily lot, you will need to get there early in order to secure a spot. Good luck.
Agreed. They are mostly all safe in NB. Just try to get the garage or lot nearest to the station and you will be fine. There are PLENTY of choices. I was just on that website last week for a client looking to move into the Heldrich Residences since they have more than one car.
NB parking is going to be expensive but they are all safe. It will also be a pain navigating around town during rush hour. The jersey ave station is more parking-friendly but as mentioned above there is a waiting list.

Monthly passes seem to run around $85 to $100 a year which is a little expensive but I think it could be a lot worse.
I would try the garage at 2 Albany St (next to the Hyatt on Nielsen st) It seems the safest and cleanest option of all the garages. (It also appears to be the best option in price too).

I am looking for a parking spot in Jersey Ave station, Nj. From 8/15/10 t0 9/3/10.
If you arrive by 8:00am, there are probably daily spots still available at the back of the lot across the street from the actual station. I believe they charge $4.00/day, but as I have a quarterly pass, I haven't looked to confirm this.
You park in one of the numbered slots at the back of the lot, remember the number, and then pre-pay at the booth by the road, using that slot number.
