I love Christie, but I think he make a big mistake here. Our property tax is bad, and the property tax relief should be for everyone, not a special class. I just don't see this any different than the other entitlement programs out there.

What your through?

I guess this is all the proposed budget could afford for now. It'll take a while to get real reforms/relief going, but we're certainly headed in the right direction.

I'm more interested in how he plans to make up for the loss from this tax credit...only two way to do it. Tax something else or cut services..

He didn't magically decide on the elderly and people families making $75k or less. Those have always been the numbers (the salary one has crept higher over time) since the property tax credits started to be handed out.

As for the overall plan, I think it was very shrewd. He's carrott and sticking with the best of them and setting up solid voting blocks like the seniors to support his plans.

it benefits South Jersey more than North Jersey (sorry, couldn't resist, LOL).

Unfortunately it's never helped me... My parents on the other hand, do benefit.

I'm pretty much against almost all entitlement programs and feel that things like this should be spread around equally or used as an incentive so that towns that make certain cuts and changes, or keep costs down are rewarded. The bribe approach works for most things the Fed does, why not let the state do it?

I agree. I'm sick of these Politicians claiming to understand the plight of the middle class, but then cutoff at $75K. What about those of us that make more than $75K, but less than $100K? What are we if not middle class?
