Well good luck in FLA. We are looking to move to NC next year. I work with my father in a family business. And have to convince him to move.

ps-My kids would love to be a hour or so drive from Disney.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your replies-it's great to hear such nice things about OceanTwp.

One thing that's very important to us is diversity-in the town and public schools. Can anyone fill me in on how diverse an area Ocean Twp. is?

thank you!

ocean twp is comprised of many smaller areas, some more diverse than others, if you really crave diversity try neptune twp which is just south of ocean, more diversity there, if that's your thing

What kind of diversity are you looking for? I have one son who goes to the elementary school in Oakhurst, and another in the preschool program in Wanamassa. None of their classes are all caucasian. Wayside is more predominantly white, I beleive. My son attended preschool with a little boy around the corner with 2 mommies. Oakhurst is very friendly, colorblind. Hope this helps.

Hi,
thanks for your replies Basically we just don't want our daughter to be the only Asian child or minority child in her class when she reaches school age. I'd like for her to get to know kids of different races in school.

We really did like the Oakhurst section and also looked at Wannamassa and Wayside, which seemed nice too.

Thanks again!

and boyohboyohboy-good luck with your move!!!

I live in Wayside. And while the section is mainly white. Their are a decent amount of minorities due to the fact that Wayside takes a large portion of kids from the various large apartment complexes in Ocean. My kids go to Wayside Elem and have had no problems. My only complaint is the amount of english as second language (ESL) classes our school has to provide. These classes take away a lot of class space and resources.

Default Is the Lincoln Drive area of Ocean,NJ (off of Wickapecko) safe

We looked at a house there to purchase, and due to its proximity to Asbury Park can anyone tell me if it is considered a safe area?
Thanks Barb512
