I would never leave the USA! I know many Americans have moved there, but isn't there some political unrest in that country??
There are many other places were it doesn't snow that one can move to.

Unrest? in Costa Rica?? are you nuts? is one of the safest places in latin america, no unrest whatsover. It's a very safe place and the beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world, not to mention their rain forest. Vaya con Dios.

Fallout from the Boomers not saving enough to pay taxes. Largest class of folks and retiring to one of those lower cost of living areas is attractive to some.

Costa Rica doesn't even have an army....beautiful country, very nice people
The only thing I heard when visiting there in 1999, is something about leaving your property vacant & squatters..hard to get rid of them, but that was almost 10 years ago and I didn't pay much attention because I wasn't buying property there

I think it's Costa Rica's neighbor north of them, Nicarauga, who is having some unrest
