I don't teach in a public school but was wondering if I could sneak in or are they very strict with checking each person?
LOL, some teachers go, but most you will find on Caribbean cruises. Trust me its boring nonsence, which I was told from a friend that went. It's a big Convention in AC, that only the die hards attend. Don't waste your time!
I haven't been yet but I think it's worth checking out at least once. I know that teachers from my school do go. I'm also probably an exception though since I love to learn. When I used to go to business conventions I would get to every session I could to check out different offerings. You don't have to sneak in. You just have to pay the non-member rate.
It's a teachers convention. If your not a teacher your not welcome.
I never went to the NJEA convention but can say from all the others that I have been to, you prob. wouldn't want to be there if you're not a teacher.
If by free stuff you mean catalogs and stuff (magnets, keychains, etc. ) with company logos then yes. Many of the tables have drawings for baskets of their merchandise too.
If you are a teacher or plan to be one then yes you can pick up a lot of hints or tricks to make things easier for you and more fun, interesting and challenging for your students.
I am a teacher... I just don't teach in a private school so don't have an NJEA card. Why is everyone assuming I'm not? I wouldn't have the need to go otherwise
Anybody can enter the convention-if you are not a member of njea then you have to pay a fee. The classes are very informative. The sales floor is mainly a bunch of garbage being hacked by people who have never taught.
The bar scene Wednesday and Thursday night will be awesome! It really gets crazy down there...

It was NOT obvious that you were a teacher from your original post -- kinda sounded like a wacko "convention-crasher" hoping for free stuff and food.
