We are thinking of moving to Sparta. I was told that taxes may increase a lot next year due to the renovations on the high school. Is anyone aware of how much of an increase they are looking at? Thanks!

Oh, what a beautiful place you will be moving to. We thought so too. Unfortunately, our taxes steadily increased between $500 - $1000 EVERY year, for the five years we lived there. When the dust finally settled after all of the back-and-forth about the High School, our taxes rose to nearly $14,000. Our tax payments were more than our mortgage payments!
Do your homework before you make any final decisions. And don't believe the realtors that tell you that taxes won't take a big jump!
