Alex 28 to 39 and you have not turned on the heat? Are you crazy man? lol
I have put the heat on, but not very high at all. Usually after the house warms up I adjust it back down. I like it around 65 normally and it has only gone below that a few times so far.
I have broken an age old tradition though - I have put on my coat. I used to NEVER put on any coat until 11/1 and not my "winter" coat until 12/1. Me and my dear late friend, "the great philosopher Ralph", had this theory... why do you wear the same coat at 62 degrees in November that you will at 2 degrees in January, makes no sense. Not doing it. It was our Mantra. lol Dear man passed away a year ago March and I went and broke the rule (sorry Ralph!) but I was really sick early on this season, so I think he'd understand.
Well, I took a cue from Cucullin, during the day is not bad and at night w/ our fireplace & wood/coal stove going the house stays warm & cozy at night. When we do go to bed our heavy blankets and our body heat keeps us warm, but comes nov 1st I think I'm going to turn it on, I guess it's a mental starting date, YKWIM?
Well, my relatives in FL are putting the heat on if it goes below 55. LOL
I know! My dad-who lived in NJ for his first 55 years is now like that. This is the guy who when I was a kid would play with us for hours in the snow and never get cold. Now if it is 60 it is cold for him!
I remember one January I was down there-it was 60 degrees and I actually witnessed people in hats and gloves.
I've had our heat set at 65 during the day and 69 at night for about one week now. We live in Monmouth County. I do it for my boys but I don't like to be cold either. My sons are little & it breaks my heart to hear them say "Momma I'm cold" awwwwwwww
This morning they enjoyed seeing the frost on the grass and their breath in the air.
IMO if you're between the ages of 10 - 50 keep it cold, but in your case Jerseyman, turn on the heat, better keep those old bones warm
and.....if you have older folks living with you like I do.....and they start to complain and whine about the heat or the cold.......try what these silly guys did on this video
I'm out by Tahiti.... but with all the crap I've done the past year, the house is holding its heat.... plus all the PC's (aka spaceheaters) running in the house, its just fine. So no heat yet.
It is funny how we adapt. We have been in the 20's for a few nights in NH and we are 27 degrees now. We have not put our heat on yet. I usually don't like to put it on before November.
However, if we were still living in NJ and it was 20's at night, I know we would have the heat on.
Now theres a woman. You live in New Hampshire and it's in the twenties and you did not put the heat on yet. Maybe it's global warming taking effect in our brains.
I put the heat on for the first time on Monday night - imagine my surprise when it didn't work! Luckily it's relatively minor and covered under our maintenance contract. Our lawn didn't have frost but the house across the street did. I didn't know what it was until I saw it on the car. I wondered how the lawn could have died overnight. lol. We moved out of an apartment that was about 90 degrees all winter long. We had no blanket and slept with the windows open and fan on. We'll see how chilly I can stand it in the house. Right now I'm setting the thermostat at 68 for a couple of hours in the morning and at night and 62 other times. 68 feels a little too warm, but I don't really feel warm until it GETS to 68. I guess we'll work it out.
Still haven't turned it on. First thing in the morning my T-stat says it's 68 on my first floor. Last few days it was 69, and before that it was 70. Maybe one more degree and I'll have to turn the heat on. Yeah, I guess it got into the 30's last night. i did see the frost on the grass this morning.
My house gets into the mid 70's during the day. Still no heat on. I'll take it if I can get it. lol
I heard it coming up this past week early in the am. The thermos. is like a line above it being turned off, so it had to be cold...I did put it up for about an hour the other afternoon, then lowered it.
Basically though, did not push it up for it to keep going on and off...I am cold, but trying not to think about it.
It's always a good thing to turn it on just to make sure the system is working properly.
