I have two kids, and have been paying $10-$12 per hour for years. That appears to be the going rate in the area for a very qualified sitter who has a decent level of experience and some training.

That's a good rate per 1/2 hour...maybe.

These days it's at least $10 per hour.

Hourly babysitting for a teenager is around $8-10 per hour, depending upon experience. Full day care is different....I don't think she can expect $120 a day. I *think* $60-$80 is the norm? Not sure though, but perhaps bumping the thread someone else will know.

we pay $12/hr for 3 small kids in Bergen county. Our sitter is a senior in HS and came well recommended. we usually round out the costs to the full hour. My kids LOVE HER and we always feel peace of mind when we head out.
I've heard + things about sittercity.com but I would always prefer using a sitter in my area that is recommended by other parents that I know in my area.
