divorced mom relocating to westfield (Cranford: to rent, schools, price)

i am looking to relocate to a new town that would offer some social life for a single mom and also be a good family town with a good school system and a walkable downtown. i would like the town to be 'down to earth' and not snobby. i am thinking of either westfield or montclair. does anyone have any suggestions or input?

Are you looking to rent or to purchase? Westfield has excellent schools, and a great downtown. Westfield could be pricey, however you do not mention what your price range is. Cranford is the sister town to Westfield, Cranford schools also rank really high. If you don't see what you want in Westfield, take a look at Cranford. Cranford is at a different price point and is somewhat more in demand.
