Yes....and the perspective gained from age is revealing. When I was in HS, a young home-economics teacher used to flirt with me. Of course I was flattered on one level, but more importantly quite unnerved and confused overall, and I did nothing at all to try to move the "relationship" along. Now that I am the father of three, I would be beyond furious if something like this happened to my kids.

Default You are incorrect!

If the child (teen) had a responsibility to report this there, would be no crime. I think you mean the kid should tell their parent, or is responsible to tell their parents. Legally they are not responsible.

Default Way off

You obviously have no concept of what harm there might be. Why don't you think it best to listen to the majority, 99% of people, who do know and understand it is harmful. And sorry but you can spout all you'd like, you would be scarred just like any other adolescent that has had sex with an adult. It is a uniformly harmful thing, period.

I would've cared less if it was about her control, if it was about her looking for instant gratification, at 15 or 16 or 17 whatever her motives were would've been a-okay by me.

I mean look at her. It ain't like when this 44 year old woman was charged with having sex with a 13 year old.

There couldn't have been too much high fiving in the school yard over that one. This Lisa Gilde was probably front and center in many a school boy fantasy as she is one attractive woman. Had that been me at that age, I would've been praying for a next time. Was it wrong? Morally, yes. Still, I can't fathom any boy his age being scarred over that or regretting doing it. It's beyond my scope.

When you think about it...years ago people had kids at 14, 15, 16, routinely...King Phillip of the Hapsburg family was King of Spain at 17..

However, and this may sound crass, but most 15 or 16 year old males aren't looking for a meaningful relationship. All you're looking for, being a male at that age, is meaningless sex. Sounds crude but there's a reason why women call us pigs. There's probably less than a handful of us on this board who, if faced with the chance to have sex with that woman when we were 15 or 16, wouldn't have done it. Most of us would've jumped at the chance. I would've without blinking twice and nary a regret in sight.

I'll also freely admit that yes, there absolutely is a double standard! There are double standards everywhere, some right and some wrong. You can't treat a boy and a girl equally in every situation. Do you worry about a teenage son going out on a date as much as a teenage daughter? Any parent who's honest with him or herself would say "no". Yes this woman should lose her license because it's against the law being an educator bedding a student. She broke her contract and broke the law. But if I step back into what I would've done had I been that kid, there's no way I would've said "no". Not a chance.
Totally agree...she should have shown some restraint...that being said...if you want to do date younger when you and the other person are ADULTS..knock yourself out..my ex was 14 yrs younger than me, and I wasn't the pursuer..broke for other reason that had nothing to do with the age difference..I think it's a matter of showing restraint and respecting the fact that even if you're not much older than the students, you are in a position of trust and authority..but once you become and adult it matters less and less...look at Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford..what's the spread there, like 40 yrs? Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore (my idol! Bless you girl)..15 yrs..etc, etc.

This isn't a discussion about May December romances! It is about pedophilia, Adults being the initiator of sexual acts with children.
To be speaking of May December romances as if it applied here confuses the issue. This confusion is the territory in which these lowlife's live and perpetrate. "Oh it's no big deal look how hot she is, he scored", "oh man she loved it, that guy didn't harm her a bit" .
Sexual arrousal during a sexual assault does not imply consent! and certainly does not mean the victim "liked" it or wasn't harmed by it.
