Not just driving through Salem County and peeing at the Clara Barton rest stop while on the way to Disney World, but spending time in all of them, visiting friends, etc!
Yeah, Salem and Cumberland are the only ones I haven't spent any QT with. I hang with Hudson, Bergen, Essex, Morris and Middlesex the most, in that order. Mercer and I used to be tight b in the d, but b**** don't return my texts anymore.
this is very fun to read, boy you get around too!! However what does DOH mean? Explain the last one??
Never been there. I don't think I've ever even passed through as no major highways cut through Cumberland. I've heard there's good duck hunting down that way though so there's my excuse to check it out.
I feel very lucky and privileged that I've been to all 21 counties, a lot.
In order of familiarity and comfort:
1) Morris (lived there half my life) family is there
2) Essex (grew up there)
3) Burlington (lived there 4 years)
4) Mercer (lived there 2 years)
5-11 is a tie:
Union
Hudson
Bergen
Passaic
Somerset
Sussex
Warren
Job took me to these places, a lot. Many friends in all these places
12) Ocean-worked there 4 years
13) Atlantic- Many friends, visits etc
14) Hunterdon- Different friends many visits
15) Camden- Should know it better, but did not go there as often as I would have liked when I lived nearby
16) Middlesex- worked there, not as much as other NNJ counties
17) Monmouth- Ditto 15, these two counties are kind of black holes
18) Gloucester
19) Cape May
20) Salem
21) Cumberland
I've been to the last 4 a lot, but I will tell you that my level of awareness and direction would dip in all 4 of those counties, but Cumberland especially. I suspect that most who post here would concur. That was part of my rationale for this poll: I think most here have a big time lack of familiarity with the south-western third of the state, and the only reason the south-eastern state is more known is by virtue of summer trips to the shore.
Sussex - had family who lived there, my baby shower was there
Warren - I can practically walk to Warren County, lol (I live within 5 or so miles from Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon and Somerset Counties).
Passaic - Lived in Little Falls
Morris - Lived here for the past 11 years
Bergen - Had mucho family living there, went to the malls a lot when I was smaller
Essex - Lived in Upper Montclair, Montclair, Cedar Grove
Hudson - Grew up there.
Union - Worked there.
Hunterdon - Took a hot air balloon ride there - another one I can practically walk to.
Somerset - Lived here for a short time.
Middlesex - Worked here for almost forever.
Mercer - College roommate lived here, took a test for a state job (ironically, one of the HARDEST tests I ever took), been to the arena several times.
Monmouth - Work here now
Burlington - Lived here.
Ocean - LBI in the house - I'm there a lot, I almost consider myself a resident.
Camden - Family lives here, spent a lot of time at the CH mall when I lived in Burlington County.
Atlantic - Been to AC a bunch, spent the weekend down there a few weeks ago.
Gloucester - been through a bunch, honestly have not "stopped" to smell the roses here.
Salem - I must say, I only think I've taken a pee there, in the rest stop not long after you get on 295
Cape May - Been to Cape May and go to Wildwood a few times each summer.
Cumberland - nope, can't claim it. I think I've been to Paris more than I've been to Cumberland County.
