Where in TN are you? I have friends in Knoxville and Diane an ex jersean who visits this forum is in Nashville
I am near Morristown , Knoxville is about 30- minutes away and Nasvile 3 hrs away.I went to knoxville last week, and then came back to my hometown and funny, Like I said, I don't miss the buisy roads and stuff.I atually don't mind Christmas shopping here.I also live 5 minutes to a lake we boat on. Beautiful , and quiet. Oh, I haven't visited Nasville yet, but would like to see it
though.
if you want to leave, just leave. Don't have to be nasty on your way out. Are you really asking this question to get a response or are you just trying to stir up a reaction? It's not all that hard to come up with a pretty compelling list of reasons to stay in or move to nj.
No more car inspections? Is that really in your top 5?
Typically your lower rent and cheaper cost of living would be accompanied with a lower income. Hopefully that won't be the case for you. Good luck in sc.
I don't get that "retiring somewhere warm" thing. My grandfather hunted every fall and winter, split wood, plowed snow, etc...everyday until the day he died-he was retired for 20 years. There's just something that's not right with a place where it never snows
When (IF) I retire someday, I'd LIKE to be near my family....AMAZES me how American mentality is more concerned about harsh winters than being by their loved ones....
If people have family down south, it's one thing. But I always laugh when people say "we can have a much better lifestyle in Charlotte". I always reply to them..."what is your definition of lifestyle?" Because MY lifestyle consists of being geographically close to family and dear friends, being geographically close to the OCEAN and Jersey Shore lifestyle, being close to Manhattan and everything that NYC has to offer, and having some of the best dining and nightlife options in the world (and not being forced to eat at Olive Garden or Applebee's like they do in NC, GA, FL, and everywhere else that these people are moving to). That's MY definition of lifestyle. And honestly, I haven't seen another place that I can find that lifestyle outside of NJ.
calm down. i'm not attacking her, nor discrediting her nor accusing her of being on a fixed income - she said it herself.
Yes....true....she did say it herself that shes on a fixed income. Does that change the facts about her observations on the out of control cost of living in this state ? Of course not. Her state of finance shouldn't change how her opinions are viewed and the facts she presents, however, apparently it did and she was quickly labeled soon to be North Carolinas "problem" when she moves there ? If thats not a personal attack or an attempt to discredit I'm not sure what would be ? At a minimum it sure doesn't sound very friendly toward those with low or fixed incomes who post on here with opposing opinions ....does it ?

I hear the head elf that plows Santas driveway died and they need a replacement....why not turn in an application ?
FYI.... I suggest checking OTHER State boards from time to time... if you do... you will find out the grass is not always greener... it's what YOU value and what YOU want that will make you find your home. Be it in NJ or elsewhere.
And we do have the power to leave, there is no such thing as "I can't." If you want to - it's a free country - YOU CAN.
Not soon enough for him to keep from complaining about how much he wants to leave.
