It's just the E-bay effect. People get themselves into a frenzy trying to "win" and they pay more than the item is worth.
Several years ago my sis was looking for a hard to find American Girl Doll on E-bay. They had a ton out there. Bidding wars broke out and the $120 doll ended up, in general, selling for $225-275 at each time. So she kept watching the Buy It Nows and there were several out there selling for $180. So they could walk away from the bidding war and get the item for $180 as opposed to $275 and they just keep bidding. Just plain ol' stupidity.
Maybe because they only have Paypal money to spend, meaning they don't have $500 cash to go buy one, but they do have that much in their Paypal accounts from selling?
no, it's because of the MS cashback offer. They are giving 20% off purchases on ebay through paypal. These people are actually paying less once their refund comes in.
