Does anyone commute daily by car from north jersey to long island? Is this feasible for my spouse who works at LIJ in New Hyde Park, Long Island?

I'd rather use a nail gun to de-wax my ears.

That's a big main dish of the Cross Bronx, followed up with a huge side order of Cross Island Parkway.

Have you ever played the game "Clue" before? This would be the same as getting beat over the head simultaneously with the lead pipe and the candlestick. You could name the toll takers "Professor Plum" and "Colonel Mustard".

If you value your family and your marriage, then just don't......

depends on where in north jersey - i was thinking more like the goethals to verrazano to belt, etc, but I agree either way, it's torturous.

Will your spouse have to travel during rush hour? It -might- be feasible if they have a non-rush hour commute...

My husband is likely going to have to be doing this for a while until we can get business settled in NJ one we move - but he is planning on leaving the house by 5am, and not coming home until after rush hour... going to suck for a while, but it is what it is.

No, no, and no. I used to make this trip and it is virtually impossible to do on a regular basis without lapsing into road rage.

I eventually rented an apartment in Rego Park to avoid this trip. I only stayed there 5 or 6 times a month, but it was necessary to avoid the drive.

OMG Noooooooo!!

I did this ONE TIME for a seminar I had to give and the security guard at the place looked at me like I was insane for making the trip.

When my Mom was dying of Cancer, 10 years ago. I did the Commute from Manalapan to Lawrence LI twice a week for two years. It was just awful. There was always traffic even though I did not go during rush hour. Lawrence if your not familar is near JFK airport, so right on the queens border. New Hyde park is furthur.
Then, the traffic was not as bad as it is today, but it was still bad. Also , consider $10 bridge fares, gas, and agravation of making that commute. There is NO way I would let my husband do it.
