Tinton Falls has some great sections and one or two not-so-great sections. Howell is pretty nice from what I know. It's right on Route 9 and has a lot within a short distance.

Red Dove, consider looking in Holmdel, Lincroft, Aberdeen, Red Bank. All nice family areas and very close to the shore. Not sure what your price range is but Holmdel, Lincroft are most expensive. Aberdeen is more affordable. I know a wonderful realtor who specializes in those areas. If you are looking for someone let me know.

Hi everyone - I just wanted to thank everyone. I have learnt quite a bit, just reading everyone's suggestions.

I think the best thing for me to do, at this point is rent a one bedroom, my son is going to be renting a room with his friend. Any suggestions on apartment complexes, reasonably priced but safe, decent, clean etc. in South Jersey? I have been looking at Craigs list and found most everyone of them had pretty low ratings on reviews - Has anyone lived at Ramblewood Village, Park Crossing, Summit and others in Burlington County? or any suggestions for Monmouth County? Thanks Y'all.

ok, that is South, but near Central. He could live there, Bordentown, Burlington County if looking for a house. Rents and taxes are less the furthur out you go. Hamilton has a comuter train.

I grew up in Toms River. Its a nice, family town. Fifteen minutes from the beach. I loved living there and growing up there. There are some bad areas in NJ, but most of it is pretty good!

Late to this but dont know if you're still considering Tinton Falls. If so, then Park Place, Fox Chase and Society Hill complexes are condos that have rentals available frequently. Not sure if they have 1 bedrooms, though.
Brick and Toms River also have several complexes that are reasonably priced.
Bordentown also has a few apt complexes. This would be closest to g/f but farther from beach.
