Actually I think the beach is ok and it's better further away u get from casinos. There are plenty of ppl who go in the ocean when its hot. Its about as clean as u find at seaside or point pleasant.

I went last month to the Showboat and saw a concert. Had a great time! I enjoy walking on the boardwalk and looking at the ocean. I also enjoyed the gambling and the really nice room. The best part is that it was a complimentary room.

Where do women in their 50's go to have fun and dancing after a nice dinner out? We're having a girl's shore weekend the weekend after Labor Day and we're looking for a nice place to go have drinks and mingle with people in our age group. Dancing could be Motown, Disco, anything from our era. Thanks!

It seems as though this once nice area has taken a turn for the raunchy and outside the casinos, it's slightly not-so-nice to be nice. There's plentiful of hookers, drugs, slum areas. The area makes its money off tourists and their spending ... I suppose if you can't afford Vegas, Foxwoods Resorts, or Mohegan Sun than Atlantic City may be the next best thing, but personally, I wouldn't go near there.

As for the beach, careful walking barefoot. You wouldn't want to get stabbed with a hypodermic needle. It's like Asbury Park. I keep hearing how the area is going to turnover, and I'm still waiting to see that ... Maybe in 5 years from now. But, not right immediate now.
Since when are there hypodermic needles on the beach in Atlantic City? It's fine if you don't like the beach in AC - many don't - but don't make up a lie about hypodermic needles.

The hamptons and fire island have almost nothing but pretentious a-holes. And in Fire Island you have to worry about getting AIDS from any toilet seat.

I like Atlantic City's unusual side.

Anyone else remember the panhandler (so to speak) with no arms and no legs who played the piano with her tongue?

Yes! I heard she was hit by a car and killed several years ago while someone was rolling her across the street on her table. You had to admire her spirit, most people in her situation would have just given up.
