Teaneck, Montclair, Willingboro, Maplewood, South Orange, Vaux Hall have nice middle class black neighborhoods or pockets of middle class blacks throughout. Also, Englewood, Hackensack, Roselle, Rahway, Bloomfield.
I've always been confused about Vaux Hall. Is it considered part of Union or it's own seperate area?
Teaneck
Englewood
South Orange
Maplewood
Montclair
The towns above are nice areas in North Jersey with significant African-American populations. And they haven't crumbled into ghettos like other larger cities that have high African-American populations. Examples would be like parts of Newark, East Orange, and Irvington. While not the worst areas, they have seen better days and their is room for improvement. But the list before are just nice small towns with lots of black people .
No one has mentioned this town, but it's in New York, but if you're really interested you should definately check it out. Roosevelt, New York its on Long Island.
Down here in South Jersey, Lawnside in Camden County is predominantly African American. I have a number of friends who wouldn't live anywhere else in S. Jersey.
Vauxhall has a different zip code and post office then union, even if you go to maps and other pages and type in Vauxhall NJ will show you only vauxhall not whole Union, but since its too small to have own goverment its part of Union. As it goes if its good or bad i wouldnt say that its that good as some towns that people mentioned here. Usually if there is something bad happening in Union usually its in Vauxhall or very close to it.
With all these towns there are "white" sections and "black" sections. Though Id say that South Orange and West Orange probably are the most integrated neighborhood wise. Maplewood is not as far as I know lower lower maplewood and upper maplewood. Same with Montclair but I think it is somewhat integrated. All these four towns are great and attract people from all races.
Union is also integrated, but Vauxhall is a distinct section of Union, that is not as nice as the rest of the township. It is has its own zip code and post office and is refered to as Vauxhall not Union. While Union and Bloomfield are integrated, they are lower class then Montclair, South Orange, West Orange and Maplewood. Bloomfield and Union are Middle Class, while the other four are upper-middle class with very affluent sections. Englewood btw is not integrated at all, while it may be diverse on paper. Teaneck isnt much more integrated than Englewood, it has the Orthodox Jews section then the rest of the town, Teaneck is generally a good town though.
Oh, and who ever mentioned Roselle???? Roselle is not a good place at all.
