The bill is aimed to get the fence sitters to buy. Why should it be retroactive for people who already bought? The PURPOSE of it is to promote more sales and reduce price drops. The people who ALREADY purchased are not who they are trying to help here. They are trying to stimulate NEW home sales so people will BUY and usually that includes new furniture and paint and etc.... So if people buy it COULD help sales in other areas as well.

And Halfpeak: Should you change your name to bid1/3rdoffpeak now?

I should change it to halfoff(peak+15k) actually because sellers will now add this 15K to their price.

I am seriously trying to figure out how the hell it's fair for someone like me - who did his part to stimulate the economy - only a 7500 "credit" which I have to pay back, when someone else who waited 2 months gets 15k scot-free.

sweep

The problem is the bill is written in confusing legalese with way to many amatuers interperting it....like what exactly does if bill is passed it will "sunset" the prior one....sit back, take a breath, see if it's passed and go from there

I am sorry but any notion of fairness has been absent in housing since mid-nineties. As I said wait the gov will throw even more bones to entice you to buy.

You are correct block911...this IS to encourage people to buy. It encouraged ME! And I DID get the tax break - in 2008. (and it's not a handout...it has to be repaid). My point is...why DON'T the people who may be getting a $15,000 "tax break" have to repay it!@!

Fair? Nope. The way life works? Yep.
Just have to suck it up and be happy you got the 7500 credit. Even if you have to pay it back overtime.

How many times have you bought a piece of clothing or a computer/TV or anything then in a month see it for less? Is that fair? Samething here.

Exactly welcome to the real world of capitalism. Be glad you didn't buy at peak and lost 15k that you have to pay back. If you held out longer you could of gotten the 4.5 % gov't backed mortgage
