They can also deliver it to the wrong address and it will still show as delivered. Happened to me.

Tracking numbers /= signatures

I use them all the time. My record in receiving is probably 99/100

A while back I shipped a lot of belongings back from Hawaii to NJ via US mail.........the important stuff I sent priority mail, that came. The less important stuff I sent regular mail, never came. About 10 boxes worth of stuff. Gone. Never saw it again.

I mailed one of the USP's one box one price from 96818 to 72927 and some one in the USP stole it. Was old NRA & Cop mags of no value, some one risk their job for this! PO does not care. Guess one has to put insurance on everything mailed via the USPO.
Postage stamps going up two cents...

thanks all ,no this package did not have insurance however either someone stole from porch, some at post office stole or got delievered to wrong house and then stolen. So if I get insurance on everything, will that solve the problem?

Call the post office & talk to carrier
On my side of the lake the Post Office is horrendous..I get at least minimum 3 times a week someone else's mail that I have to put back out and judging from some of the post marks on my mail..they have been misdelivered as well

Important stuff I have sent Fed Ex signature required...UPS & Fed EX in my area are far better than that Post Office..they should all be fired and this has been going on for YEARS

This happened to me recently, in reverse. I was returning some merchandise that I had bought online. The tracking number said it had arrived. The business (small local business in Texas) said it had not arrived at the store and that they hoped I had bought insurance. I hadn't. The post office "launched an investigation" and promised to call me within 24 hours--they didn't. I called back and they promised again to call me, etc.

In the end I called VISA and told them that a merchant would not credit my account because they claimed my return never arrived. I gave them my tracking number and within 10 minutes my VISA account was credited with the full purchase price of the item. It was painless and fast. I should have called them sooner.

Hope this helps someone.

thanks for all the stories and ideas. I see I am not alone. The pillowcases were lost forever. Well I found a solution, I reorder the same damn pillowcases this time paid for the insurance. So they will hopefully arrive this time.
