The entire year I spent being 17 was absolutely ridiculous when it came to fun- it was when I was old enough to party all the time without my parents bitching at me, yet too young to start trading equities, and otherwise worry about my net worth. 17 was probably the least boring year of my life.
you're lucky, because 17 sucks. yeah, I have my license, but I don't have a car, and both my parents work all the time, so I can't really go anywhere. also, 17 year olds today have so much pressure. i'm taking this test in 2 weeks and if i don't pass it, I don't graduate HS. I also have to take the SAT's which are retardedly hard. I've taken practice tests and I haven't scored anything above a 1400. 1400 is bad now, because the stupid state of California insisted on adding a third section to the SAT, so now its out of 2400 instead of 1600. I won't be able to get into any colleges because I am so terrible at taking these tests. My GPA isn't all that great either. I have no time to party, I'm working my butt of now so I can get into college and then party all the time in college. I'm not out drivng to hot girl's houses, I have my nose in a book during the week. And on Friday and Saturday nights I work, because I need money to buy a car. also, i don't get along with my parents very well, so I got a job so I can be self-sufficient. I don't ask my parents for money, because I want to prove to them I don't need it. What year were you 17 in? because you make it sound like a breeze.

this is totally a suburbs vs. city question. where would you and your family be happier? i grew up in the suburbs, lived in hoboken for 8 years, then moved back to the suburbs. there's a huge difference. do you like driving everywhere? do you like having easy access to NYC? how long of a commute can you put up with? i don't know much about alpine, but i know it's not THAT close to the city. i would imagine an hour commute for you. weehawken is super close, but btw, your bus ride will NOT be 4 minutes during rush hour and you will almost never get a seat, just so you know. traffic crawls through the lincoln tunnel. and btw-- unrelated-- but i cracked up at the above poster saying that the SATs are "retardedly hard." Quite an oxymoron...

thanks for your INput PG631
You are right about a few things...
First the house I'm looking at, is only 2 Bus stops before the Tunnel, so it def. will be a 4 min ride to the tunnel.
And you are right I love being closer to the city, BUT I don't mind driving to the city, and If I pick Alpine, is only a 5 min drive on the Palisades Parkway, then I will take the GW Bridge to the city, then I will take West Side Avenue.....so the commute wouldn't be that bad.....
I always lived in the city type, and I really want to change to a nice quite SUBURBS......I NEVER HAD THAT in my life.........

They are both two very very different towns. You jsut need to ask yourself if you want urban or suburban. I personally would choose weehawken but im young and not raising kids.

I have been doing my Research....AND I CAN NOT find One single incident on Alpine, NO ROBBERIES, No Cars Stolen, THE ONLY Cars that drive through those streets are Residents, Because other People GET very intimadated when they even try to drive by, and I Heard that Cops will pull you over if they see your not from the Area.......

If you know of any Incidents in Alpine in the past 3 years PLEASE LET ME KNOW..........

I turned 17 in 2003. I think the huge difference in our respective experiences centers on the fact that I did not get my first job until spring of my senior year and that I had a car at my disposal.
