Gradstudent, I agree...17 was the easiest year of my life too (2003 was apparently a fun/easy year to turn 17). And I definitely agree, Alpine over Weehawken any day of the week, especially if kids are coming soon. You have to think of the kids and that the education will be much better in Alpine than in Weehawken.

Default weehawken or alpine

I had the same choice between purchasing a home on closter dock road in alpine for 1.1 million which i was planning on knocking down and building a home, however i changed my mind and instead bought land on hackensack plank road in weehawken just diagnol to kings bluff. I am in the process of getting approvals to build a modern 6000 square foot home over looking NYC.

I did not like alpine I looked at homes there several times and for christ sake I had to drive to closter to find a starbucks and the only restaurant i could find was a habacchi house. Alpine is pretty but its so square and boring forget about having any interactions with neighbors you will not meet them and they are not the most warm people to deal with.

I opted for weehawken as I wanted a nice view , my own property and ps I will also have an inground pool.

If you can pay 2.7 mill i am assuming your in the same category as others looking in Alpine so opt for Weehawken and send the kids to private school.

You can email at cdouglas@edcpharma.com if you want some more insight.

P.S my taxes will be 0.02 % of assessed value in weehawken which last time i spoke to assessor will be aroung 28k but oh well i did not spend 8 million to get that in alpine

compared to those 2 towns, I'd rather eat my own puke than live there.

I agree. Seriously and literally. I live right by it and I hate this area, maybe some of you have had a good experience here but I really hate it.

ALPINE all the way, however I understand what your saying and why you want Weehawken. Did you ever try looking at Closter and some of those towns?

Alpine is gorgeous & has no H.S. The town of Rockleigh has taxes that are even lower than Alpine's. Example being a 2br house that just deposited there,$659,900, the taxes on the property are just over $2,200 a year. Hudson County's taxes are crazy. Weehawken is great for visiting. It depends how much property you need? I think the loveliest town in Bergen County is Upper Saddle River.

Why does anyone need or even want a 6000 sq ft home?
