LOL-we get a knucklhead who keeps writing letters to the editors in our local paper to lobbying for the changing of Middlesex County's name. He feels that "sex" in the name is innappropriate.
I always like the name Ho-Ho-Kus. And I always wondered why there is an East, North, South, and New Brunswick, but not an Old or a West Brunswick.
Don't know if this is true or not I heard it years ago from some old dude. Ho-Ho-Kus actually used to be Hohokus, but the post office kept screwing up and Hohokus' mail kept accidently going to Hoboken. Therefore, they added the dashes.

As a teen I don't remember the dashes it was just Hohokus but with our wonderful postal system I could see where the mail went to Hoboken especially during the pre zip code era......that's right there was a time we didn't have or use zip codes
It is Indian! I think it means good bread. And I think Marlboro means rich soil.
Not sure if these were mentioned yet but how about Ho-Ho-Kus, Moonachie (pronouned moon-ock-ie), Cox's Corner, Imlaystown, Interlaken, Succasunna, Cinnaminson, Loveladies.... I could go on all day if I had time!
