Basically I'm looking for something with a very easy commute to New York, since I have to be to work at 7 am. It has to fall in the price range of $800 to 1000 a month. I'm looking for a diverse community. Anyone have any ideas of where I should live. I do not want to live in Jersey City (grew up there and I'm not going back) or Newark.

For that price range, I suggest Rahway. It's the wannabe Hoboken that will never be. There's been a lot of building there with new townhoses and condos going up around the New train station, which is NYC direct. 35-40 min to Manhatten.

Unless the OP is working right outside Penn Station, I don't recommend the commute from Rahway. Yes, the train is 35-40 minutes, but that doesn't mean door-to-door time is 35-40 minutes. It was taking me an hour & 20 minutes each way from Rahway to the Wall Street area. I lasted 6 months and left for a job in Woodbridge.
