I am in the begining stage of purchasing my first home in the state of NJ. I applied for a preapproved Through Wells Fargo and bank of america to get a good faith estimate for the closing. BOA have a special deal where you pay zero for closing but i think their rate is a little higher than wells fargo. Wells fargo has 5% and around 3000.00 in closing cost.
Has anyone applied for a mortgage recently, any recommendation will be helpful for a bank that has a low rate and a fair closing cost.

Thank you,
American Federal Mortgage in Flanders. Their rate is below 5% and their fees ran me about $750.00!
We should get something for our referrals... at least a half a point off . I'm waiting patiently for 4%... then I will refi.
I think at this point, I will too. I just looked, and if I re-fied now, I'd be saving over 100/mo. If it gets to four, I'm jumping.
