Hi

I am planning to move to Arbor Hills apartment on River Road in Nutley. I got a good deal of 1125 for a bed room including utilities. I need to know a few things:

1. Is Arbor Hills a good enough place to live? I am an Indian, is the community good enough there? Has anybody had any issues with management or any other issue ever there?

2. I need to go to NYC and did a checkup with De Camp buses. I really need to know whether they are as efficient as it says on the website during rush hours? Is there a train around and if anybody could tell me the cost of monthly basis. I can drive till the nearest train station if it is in a mile or two's radius.

3. Is there are good pre school around? I did check up Abundant Academy and Lady Bug Montessori. If any reviews could be available on it.

4. How about Indian Groceries around? It is not a necessity but any thing around will be good.

5. How about a Farmers Market?

6. Any activities for toddlers.. clubs or community based?

Hello,

I lived in Arbor Hills many years ago (when I lived there it was "The Commons" but had been renamed shortly before I left.) When we moved in it really suited our needs. I liked that the bedroom and living room were a very good size. The little balcony was lovely. We had nice neighbors and parking and we were happy there for a while. By the time we left (around '97) it was starting to get a little shabby.... management was not keeping up with the property as much and the caliber of people living there was declining as well. However, I am talking about 12 yrs ago now (damn!) so I can't speak for it after that. We did enjoy the pool in the summer, and practically no one used it.

Nutley itself is a nice little town, I really do like it. There are many options for Pre-School, I will ask some friends who still live in the town. I would also check greatschools.net as they have preschools listed now as well. You'll be able to find a lot of activities, are you looking for things like the Little Gym, Y programs?

Dear EEEPNJ

Thanks a lot for the info. I did visit other threads on Nj forum for a little info and was impressed with Nutley.. tht's why we want to shift in there. It sounds good to me.. hopefully, I'd enjoy my time as a tenant.

As far as preschools are concerned. Just on internet reviews and the recommendation of the lady in the rental office, I have short listed Abundant Academy. I jst need a little more info on it as in it is good enough to send a 3 year old there? She has never been to any school ever.

I am also looking for some programs like Little Gym and all..

Thanks Much...

Go visit the school alone first, then bring your child. It's the best way to see if it is what you need.

There is a Little Gym in Montclair and one in Hasbrouck Heights. Montclair will probably be closer. There is also a pretty nice Y in Montclair that you can join and they have enrichment programs for children. There is a Y in North Arlington, but no where near as nice.

I don't think recreational is a problem and the library might have an agreement with nutley for u to rent there.
